the unofficially cool MTB drop bar thread

That customize your MTB scan from the catalog is brilliant! Makes your WTB themed build even better!

Thnx Phil!,
Well this thread owes a reference to that snippet mentioning an excerpt of the year before 87 catalog then :)
btw the 94 Bridgestone catalog on sheldon brown is a testament to cycling history and so well informative written.. covering the ""Hybrid-Bikes"" usage protocol formidable;) retrofittingly taking the C&X productline out of the short commuting paraphrase call to subject :D

I’m looking for a period correct dirt drop bars… I have an Specialized so ideally I’m looking for RM-2 from Specialized or WTB… do you know any other brand perhaps more affordable but period correct (>1992)? Cheers

cool good luck, iam also always looking for period correct atb/mtb offroad dropbars aka dirtdrops (which slogan by brand advertisement belongs to the Big S)
pm me so we may trade...

@rouge_prawn _p
if you have rock combo the BB1 aka S´ ATB dropbars are THE bars to look for

I have a 1992 Specialized S-Works Cross. It’s a 700c. I don’t mind other brands, it doesn’t need to be S’ but good to know.

Perhaps it’s good to do a list for future researchers?

Specialized RM-2
Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB) RM-2
Specialized BB-1 (aka ATB drop bars)
3T WB1
Nitto RM-3 (modern)
Nitto RM-013 (modern)
Nitto RM-014 (modern)

hand flared cinelli for C´ham / Ibis or any custom curiosity worth the effort..

true, like with the wtb bars, there are 2 versions/generations of the WB1

crust bars for very modern ;)

About the c’, yeti’ or ibis… which model of Cinellis bars they were taking as a base to custom? Perhaps it’s the way to go… Seems easier to find a Cinelli than rm2, bb1 and others
