Cheers.MOST impressive
Timewarp or respray and original or new parts?
What a pair! Those bikes are both gorgeous. Proper time warp condition.Cheers.
They are both wearing original paint and both only had minor bits replaced (tyres, grips, cables and chain on the Scimitar, and tyres and saddle on the Mercian). Scimitar was a total wreck when I bought it, having been used as a shopper for most of its life. The Mercian was as minty and original as they get.
I've got me an Avanti mk 2, in rattle snake, which is scuffed up and needs a repray, I'm considering going down the team Panasonic path. any ideas folks? want to add some panier mounts as wellNice one, LGF! Great to see my old Dawes Ranger there, and my mates Raleigh Banana Super Maverick.
Here, also, for the thread is my Ilkeston-built Raleigh Panasonic Super Maverick on its' first outing on the Muddy Fox/Bike Magazine Trailblazer on the North Downs near Dorking, back in 1985. Sadly this machine is no-more as it was stolen, stripped of parts, the frame damaged, and then left in the street until found and returned to me by the police. What's left of it is still in the garage...maybe somebody with a welding torch could repair the frame and see if they could get it road/off-road-worthy again?
This one was 531ATB main frame tubes and forks and I was measured-up for it by the great man himself, Gerlad O'Donovan. What a great character he was, so-enthusiastic as he showed me around the Ilkeston workshop.
Actually surprisingly good, very comfortable and free rolling but they weigh a ton. I had ordered the 2.15s and was sent the 2.35s.Looks good
How are the tyres?
I bought some a while ago for a similar bike, but haven’t fitted yet.
