[The owner of the shop I raced for's personal one weighed 24.7. It was used strictly for XC/promotion (it hung in the shop on a scale when not in use). Those of us who rode them and raced DH and did freeriding @ Bromont/Ste. Anne on the off weekends bikes all weighed considerably more. Throw a Mr Dirt PBF or FAT, Hopes, Alumilites, Tioga DHs, IRC snakebite tubes at them and the weight skyrockets.

Sort of takes us right to the eastern idea of 'Maya' (all is an illusion) ... just like 99% of the shiny/pretty cars out there are just greasy, slimy, smelly bolts and steel underneath all that beautiful body-work (F-1 racecars, Ferraris, and McClarens notwithstanding).

Kind of like many things around us, in teh material world, really. :!:
