The Recession, when more Bicycles were sold than Cars....!

Re:

Reading this thread with great interest, just looking at the 953 track frame and thinking that the geometry looked very cycle speedway.

A quick google later......

Lee did a small repair on a bottle cage boss on my Explosif a few years ago. Went to his garage/workshop and he repaired it while I waited. Some of the frames hanging up were real works of art.

@Sinnerman I think am gonna let it go it was for my son to use a few years ago now he’s as tall as me so it’s too small!

Some of the work that's come out of the workshop over the years is awe inspiring to me, I love the Leather Saddle too.

And even the retired Jedi has Taste....LOL.

I'm blown away by the chromed bits there! Is there a reason why the chroming of the rear triangle usually doesn't go all the way along / up the stays?

Its not something i have ever given much thought too, to be honest, always just admired the end result.

Would it have something to do with the process and the amount of polishing required and the thickness of the tubing being used...?

thinking about this is going to needle me now

I would imagine there are a few reasons, asthetics, price, ease of finishing paint work, seen a Dave Moulton frame with full chrome rear triangle, Raleighs with 2/3 chrome and just about everything inbetween.
