Yeah, I really wasn't planning on using half-assed tools for something as important as this. Best to get the proper ones.

According to Velobase the BB-M730 was used between 1987 and 1991. The famous UN-72 BB only appears in the Shimano catalogues from 1992 onwards.

Yes mate you don't want to be ruining the process of fitting such a nice XT BB plus chance gouging the finish on them either so i'm well pleased to see you get hold of the proper tools for the job ;) ..

Tbh i thought the BB-M730 was used during the mid-80s to around 1991 but was uncertain but the UN-72BB i was fairly confident was between 91-92 when it came into use as i'm pretty certain i'd read about it when it came out but it looks like i wasn't as accurate as i thought ..

Re:

The tip produced a bent Dawes mean street with no wheels.
Unfortunately the fc-mt60 I brought it for had a fractured arm, bugger!
still had a few good salvagable bits though ;)

Re: Haro

Picked this up today - am stripping for parts so if anyone wants anything it is all for sale (Quadra 21R forks already listed.) I plan to keep the M569 cranks & M563/Mavic 221 gold rim front wheel.
Frame looks great where its been covered, e.g. the chainstay once the old protector is off, elsewhere there is surface weathering. It measures 17" c-c with a 22" top tube. M739 rear mech, M566 front mech, M739 front brake, M600 rear brake, M569 8 speed shifters, STX-RC/Velocity deep rim rear wheel, Tioga Factory mud 1.95 tyres, Wellgo XT copy pedals, Madison comfort saddle, 27.2 s/post, Club Roost 650 mm bars, adjustable stem, some weird brake levers, disc cover for chain rings etc.

Re:

Well happy with this long-sleeved 1992 Alpinestars jersey I 'won' on eBay (for a great price) to compliment the rest of my 1992 kit. Flawless condition.

Re:

Was given this by the current owner of the original Kona dealer in town.
Mounted on 1/4" board, nice for the man cave.
Can't quite make out the signatures though.

Re:

A quick run to the tip & came back with more than I went with
Mind you I'm not complaining be after a half decent set of amber walls, might throw the Gt together for my bro as pub bike, rear gear cable was disconnected but looks like the shifters are shot.
