the perfect new bike for old grouches?

Re:

Exactly as I expected here, all the good bits of old bikes it's got ignored because of all the bad bits it hasn't

There's no meaningful difference between a 26 and a 27.5 wheel from on top.

£200 off its a good dea lat the mo.

This worries me though:
Paint finish is low tech and corrosion will occur due to it being made out of steel. If youre a bike tart, move along now please.

Also I want 26" tyres only because I have 4 sets of them plus tyres in the garage. I am likely going to buy a retro frame and convert it to discs.

sounds like you need an on-one inbred

Re:

Was tempted by this but it’s got those silly thru (sic) axles and all my wheels are qr.

Plenty of decent frames out there second hand that fulfil the same need.

Was watching this with interest through pre-production but was a bit gutted when they announced it was going to be full Boost (on the 29er version).
So went down the Stooge route instead.

Seems a little daft building a new old bike when there is so many old bikes already in existence but I still Applaud enthusiastically :D :D :D :D

you get all the good grumpy old bloke bits, and all the good modern bits (brakes, drivetrain)

142 spacing though, and 1x12 is really narrow chain and thin cog. Not a good hardwearing combo :?

I'm actually changing one of my more mountainy bikes down to 1(maybe 2)x9 xt m750, just because i'll get a lot better life out it.
