Looks a good time to point out the real reason many of us old timers held onto vinyl all these years - much easier and more sociable to skin up on a 12" record sleeve than a CD case or streamer!

Picked up a Marantz CD5000 on the grounds that it has the rare late Philips TDA1549 dac. It really is very good and gives my DPA a run for its money. Recommended if you‘re still digging CD and want to play. (The Philips CD751 & 753 are identical inside and even cheaper). See:

They've been parked up for 10 years after being rescued from the tip and still worked when tested last month.

Have owned both Mission for about 30 years but would like a PCM for that mad display
