Forum noob, riding oldie. Sup ridin' bruddahs?

Lately I've been on an retro bike tear picking up an old Fat Chance and a Alpinestars frame off this forum. I guess like everyone here, I'm just enamored with the classic mountain bikes. Been riding since '90 when I got my first mountain bike - a '90 Giant Sedona ATX which sadly I no longer have.

This is a great forum and checking out the old rides is re-kindling memories from the past. Hopefully, I can pick up the bikes I lusted after when I was a poor kid.

welcome, youve certainly come to the right place  what bikes have you got then

Just joined after years of lurking - A Kona and steel man at heart having ridden a Lavadome from in the early 90's and have alway checked out any Kona posts.

Alright dudes,

Dan here, I am from a town called Leek on the edge of the Peak District. Married with a 11 month old son and we are expecting our second child in January 2012!

I am a music promoter (which beats digging ditches for a living) and I decided to get back into cycling after getting the bug watching people head past my house up to the Peak District every weekend!

Thanks

Dan

Hello from Paignton!

Hi everyone :D
My name is David, I come from Poland but my last 7 years I've spent living in the beautiful South West.

I used to ride the legendary Trek 950 which was stolen when I was 17 (I'm 30 now...). Then after few years time I came back to riding on a cheap Dawes Tekarra. Got this bike for few quid from a friend, just to ride around. But that bike doesn't want to go away! It's been 6 good years and the UK made cromoly frame has lasted the worst possible scenarios and the bike is still taking me for my 15 miles each way commute to work everyday and some crazy Dartmoor rides on weekends (after the tyres change, of course)! Obviously the only bit that's left from original bike is the frame, but I just can't believe how strong it is... With the bottom bracket glued in with the epoxy... :D

OK, time to go to work!

Nick from London here. Bought a 98 (I think) Kona Hahanna off ebay last year. I'm finally getting round to doing something to it. I'll keep you posted of my build.....

Hello people!

I'm Chris and a few months ago I bought a Scott G Zero FX4 on Ebay. Love the bike but wondering if anyone knew of any info on this bike? Found a few bits and bobs on the net and even contacted Scott but they don't have any info on this bike or spare parts so I'm wondering how old this bike is? 2002/2004? Can anyone help at all? I also have the original front and rear shox on it which I assume will need an overhaul at some point. The gearing and brakes have been updated but I am a little lost on this rest as I don't know what I exactley have so if any one has any info they can pass on, I would be very grateful.

Peace and keep riding,

Warchild aka Chris

Hi Greg from Hornchurch. I'm not so much into retro riding but it's great to look at the retro gear with great fondness. It takes me back to my teenage years of hankering for shiny Zaskars, crazy painted Klein's, purple anodized bits, Oakley blades and not having any money to get them lol. I think I better go back to my parents house and get all the good old stuff before they decide to empty their loft.

Hey folks! Ranier here in Stuttgart, Germany. Long time biker, since 1990 and just getting into the retro thing.

Found the site googling for, what else, retro mountain bikes! Picked up a Fat Chance and Alpinestars recently and really diggin' them. Looking forward to checking out more retro porn on this site.

ciao, Ranier

Hello *waves*

I have a couple of retro bikes; a '96 Zaskar LE and a '98(ish) Club Roost VCV. I'll post some pics once I'm up to 5 posts...

Hi ,Im Soggz from Somerset. Ive been riding mountain bikes for more years than i care to remember. My first m.bike(if you can call it that) was a purple rahleigh mustang.I used to piss past the boys with the muddy foxes, so i went all out and bought a GT outpost, then a Backwoods in candy red which got pinched, then a ball burnished pantera with rock shox judys ,then the forks messed up on me causing to fall off big stylee and break me arm in 2 places which ended me up with 2 bars and 11 screws in me left arm...went back to work 3 weeks later and started riding again 2 months after that.I bought a GT agressor 2 years ago as it was cheaper than a set of half decent forks as it came with hydraulic disc brakes. The suntour forks are heavy, but its all value for money!.For anyone who knows the Longleat area, i Have ridden UP cley hill right to the top and we used to bomb around the forests there before centre parks was built (F**king place, took some really epic trails away from us here!)But i digress...Anyway, nice to find a decent bike forum on here at last and check out my retro sh*t on the xyz thread.
Peace and ride free.
