Re:

sorry Velofrog no idea on that

Got a proper hifi stand this week. Something I have always hankered for but had always felt that there could be no real discernible benefit (despite the mags saying so) and stacked on the floor was good enough. Have to say I was wrong, not a dramatic change but defiantly an improvement and looks the business too. Wife is happier as well and that is never bad.

That would be because it's bloody hilarious Grahame...

Ta for sharing. Will be doing likewise.....

Re:

Happy days!

A couple of years ago I built a little gainclone power amp:

All was well until about a year ago when it just stopped working and wouldn't power on. I put it on the floor to one side of my desk and added it my "I'll have a look at that later" list.

Today I opened it up and had the multimeter ready; I suspected that the soft-start circuit board was at fault and that this wasn't switching on properly and delivering power to the transformers. Before I even went anywhere near the multimeter the I saw that the little LED on the front panel was alight and it all looked OK. I connected it all up and hey-presto, it's all working fine.

The patch of carpet next to my desk will now be known as the magic carpet and all faulty things will reside there for at least a week before I attempt to fix them in the hope that they too will magically fix themselves. :D

Got this off a picker friend this evening.Late 60s Sanyo Campanetta world radio in perfect condition and everything works as it should. The sound quality is fantastic.A bit of a rarity?Surely worth the 22 euro(£15)I paid?
