I think suggestions of XTR are missing the point a little. If it's 'agricultural' you're after, go XT M730/2/5. If you want a little more Pacific Northwest, then change the cranks for Race Face Turbine I-Beams (not the Turbine LP version) or Syncros Revolutions (either with the appropriately matching BB).

Nooooooooooooo! That's the way to insanity and poverty! (Though if you're looking, the for sale and wanted forums here are as good a place as any to start, as of course is good old ebay.)

Don't do it though, you'll spend for ever tarting it up, turn it in to a real garage queen and never ride it. Just get it fixed and get on it!
