Its getting to that time of year again when Legrandefromage (Mark) hosts his annual gates ride.
In its 6th official year the ride takes in lovely countryside in and around the Huntingdon area.
Date: Saturday 18th July.
Time: 9.30 onward for 'faffing' with the ride to start around 10.30 -ish
Distance: 36 - 38 miles depending on weather/ beer consumption.
Starting point: PE28 4EZ - You will see which house it is when you arrive.
Added extras: Bicycle jumble
Bike: Completely retro friendly
Terrain: Flat with head winds and inclines and bumps, lots of bumps - and of course, gates. Some sort of suspension desirable but not essential unless you like sore wrists. A little bit of road work but once out on the main route not a lot. Some of Cambridgeshires finest countryside on offer with plenty of twisty fast singletrack. Helmet is a matter of personal choice. Plenty of cowpats to land in.
Suncream: Mandatory
Waders: Optional
No Helmet No Ride*. No Woman No Cry.
A section of photos from the previous years rides to tempt you along:
Fiery hot dusty trails:
Quite the suntan (burn) was racked up by the riders ..... scorchio.
Hot & dusty again
We do bridges too not just gates ...
Official
One word .... Wet.
There have been dogs:
A beer or three:
Occasional water hazard:
Please could you register interest and attendance on this thread so Mark knows how many to make bacon sandwiches** for.
See you all soon
* This isn't strictly the case, you're all adults and can make the choice. If you intend to ride with out a helmet you acknowledge the risk and also acknowledge you man be referred to as a "ninny" for the duration of the ride
** There are no bacon sandwiches
