The dark funk of depression...

We found the answer yesterday, ride your bike with fellow RB's. Suddenly the whole world is put right.

Hit me really hard today, for no apparent reason  Been in the real depths of it in the past, so know what you're going through.

If I can ever be of help, LGF, give me a shout. It's a sh1te place to be

Cycling is meant to be a good way to beat depression
Kind of knocks that saying into a cocked hat

Whatever a cocked hat looks like

Community is a great place to start, esp friends like those many of us feel we have here

If anyone, though, feels they have a genuine problem, please see your local GP
-Karlomanx- some genuine mental illnesses require medicine, and what you suggest is like saying Insulin only helps the drug companys not the people with bung pancreas'. As one of "those" people I find your comments a little rude

-velomaniac- even rapidcycling Bipolar Disorder does not alternate within a 24h period. Also you need to get clinically diognosed before you can be properly treated. BPD isn't a walk in the park, but it is one of the best researched mental illnesses

If you are "MAD" be proud, do a stint in the "Priory" hospital even, you might meet some famous people! ;)

It "helps" (if you can call it that) more people than need it.

By that I mean that Insulin has become a fairly popular PED in recent times (/decades). Which is (even accepting I get the rationale behind it) retarded to be injecting something like Insulin, unless you need it medically.

I'm not down with the kids (bashrings)

Forgive me if I sound ill informed, it's because I am.

How does one choose a bashring? Does it need to be the same diameter as your middle ring?

Can you use one with two chainrings and a front mech, or are they meant to be used with some sort of chain device?

The only reason I'm asking is because I have a chainset that has one, and my Saracen needs a chainring. Not sure I like working on a bike with front and rear mechs, I'm rapidly remembering why I haven't used them for a couple of years.

this depression thing seems cyclical ,sort of a man "period"
apparently we blokes do suffer from a period type thing
although with out the messy bits obviously

cycling ,sex and fresh air seem to help me thru this but i'm still not
understanding the trigger for it ,and it seems to get more prevalent as i get older

so the futures bright then ,Alzheimers( worked with aluminium for the
past 30 years so its probably in the post) OCD (already got it )
and depression

and no pension

no wonder i get depressed
