My Orange X1, that I got new in 1995\6 from the insurance company when my Kona AA was stolen, cost around £2000, that was a decent spec, xlite bits, Judy dh forks etc. So in today's money that should be double that, which is about what a new Orange full sus would cost?
We used to do a thing at races sometimes, who had the biggest cost difference between there car and bike, bike being the most expensive. I remember someone driving an old Micra that looked like he'd got it from a scrapyard, with a mountain cycle San Andreas on the back.
