The Clockwork is back !

So a clockwork in name really. Nic but more a smart move marketing move than a reboot. Mind we've all got a year to save the pennies!

Blimey have things really got so expensive that we can spend £849.00 and still get a bike with Acera on it.....

I am old and things have clearly got worse.

Uhhhhhhhh, I quite like that especially in the Clockwork S guise, (although strictly speaking it goes against its heritage, so I can see why its a bit naughty in retro terms!), once I get comfy with being off road I had thought about maybe trying the 29'er wheels.

That said I ain't got the money either way and I'm well happy with the P7 at present so its wishful thinking anyway. Damn it!

Nice thought though....

Agree with that. See bikes advertised for stupid money with Alivo stuff on and do wonder what you have to spend to get XT these days </old fogey>

I did a simple comparison online with pound values of 1993 compared to 2012 and the base Clockwork LX rrp then would have been £619 which has a relative value today of around £983.

If you consider that the new one has 29" wheels and a suspension fork for £899 plus its aluminium, its not that bad value. There are better spec bikes available for the same money though, so I would agree they are sullying the clockwork name somewhat, so it is a bit of a cash-in/marketing ploy like taffy says. Also isn't Acera like a leisure component group rather than a proper MTB spec groupset?

I would sooner have one of these: http://www.cotic.co.uk/product/solaris and make a bike up myself, great looking frame and looks well made etc..

Still tempted by the Clockwork S though!!!
