The Book of Genesis..

It's a real shame that Genesis seem to be scaling down the MTB side in favour of road bikes, a pity because I was looking through the catalogues from 2010 and they had a fantastic range of about 14 different MTB's in Ti, aluminium, and different Reynolds steel tubes.

Today in 2014 I think they are down to about 5 with lower spec tubing.

Quite agree, although sign of the times. The money is in road bikes, judging from all of the lbs's in a 30 mile radius from me they have all dropped most of their mtb stock and mostly stock road bikes now.

I looked at the new carbon fibre Genesis' - the same frame is used across the range, so the base model (around £1,500 iirc) would be quite a good buy I would have thought.

I suppose its the Olympic games success thing that's the driver, I just don't fancy chancing my arse in live traffic covered in lycra with my gonads hanging out all over the place!

Re:

Hi everyone,

Took some quick pictures of mine this afternoon, apologies for the state of the garden :)

This is my CdF, minimal upgrades...

And my High Lattitude, Hope 50mm stem, Easton Haven bars, better grips and a Hope seat clamp are the main upgrades, more planned in the future....

Cheers
Stu

I'll add my Fortitude Adventure to the fray.

Built from a frameset so running Alfine 8 instead of 11, Hope front, Middleburn Uno, Thomson, BB7s etc.

Re:

Just a frame at the moment as I'm not sure about what forks to put on it, but I'm really looking forward to building it up.

I like these, was looking at a Fortitude Race, what do you think of the new Longitude?

I think there needs to be a greater tyre choice before 29+ becomes a viable option. More tyres are on the horizon, but then they have been for a while. AFAIK Surly haven't even brought out the long promised Dirt Wizard in 29+ flavour yet. Some folk were hoping for them last winter and now it looks like they might be doubtful for this winter.

Stick some 120 air forks on , 2X9 or ten , decent disc brakes and get out on it , mine rode superb and I loved it .
