The 15 Worst Mountain Bike Products Ever

Seriously?

Not only does he have a crack at products that were some of the best BITD, he also seems to forget that most of these were from an era where manufacturers were actually still experimenting with bold new ideas rather than copying eachother's boring designs.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to grab my fingerless gloves and go for a ride on my long-stemmed modern MTB which just happens to be equipped with barends and toe straps nowadays.

Exactly! Long stem, RC35's, spd's, bar ends, I've got the lot. I think a lot of these people are asked for a piece for the mag and just pick something to be cool about.
I could do that:
Tyres! What are they all about?

I agree that lots of our stuff is flawed, and the modern equivalent does the job better. I've got most of those things in my collection, including some of the bits that almost made the list.......it's that quirky character that makes it interesting though......

I'd rather drive a Mexico escort to catch a steam train than a focus rs to catch a virgin pendolino.........or something like that......... :?

good laugh. i agree with all his points, he is right. for some reason though, as we know, collecting and riding these old parts is still fun, even if they don't work as well as the modern stuff

punctures were a bad invention

Yeah, I wish I'd patented them, I'd be a rich beyond belief :D

I totally agree with the Grip Shits, thanks to them Shimano have had my money for the last 19 years.

I dont know why flexy stems and elastomer shocks were in there :? sounds like the reviewer only ever had air or progressive air shocks
After rigid forks and bumping down things even the addition of a flexible Ti bar was a godsend .Flexy stem and ANY fork was pure unadulterated luxury

A funny read though

That's funny – only just this afternoon was I merrily takin' my 26inches to the streets, sporting psychedelic spandex, 440mm flat bars with bar ends, a zero degree 150mm stem, and clipped into some of those Onza HOs. HO yes, and I was also changing gears with some of those awful thumbshifters. I decided to show a little decorum by not pegging playing cards to the seat stays this time. Quite why anyone has their bar ends pointing 90 degrees to the heavens, I don't know.

Meanwhile chaps, here I am astride my pride and joy ;)
