Team Saracen Rush/addiction

Hi,

One of my first posts here, I have recently acquired what I have been told is a Team Saracen Rush/addiction frame from late 90s/early 00s which I'm looking to rebuild, it has had many layers of paint on it (7-10). I'm gonna strip back to alloy and repaint then work from there.

I'll post some pics of the frame when I get home and see if some of you can ID it and/or date it from them.

Thanks
James

Re:

Here is the photos, as i say i put a wire mop on my grinder and started to clean the frame back to alloy and see how much hard work was involved ( alot ) so looking at chemical dipping.

If any one has any ideas on year and definitive model of frame please let me know.

cheers,
James

P.S. Ignor the orange stickers on it the previous owners son stuck them on :)

Well I started to strip the paint and powder coating off my frame, planning on painting it, but the lad I got frame off thinks I should polish it and lacquer it.

Only managed to get it half done hoping to get the other side soon and get it primed at weekend.
Once again if any one has any info on exact year and model of my frame please let me know!!

Re:

That would look awesome polished & lacquered! Or pretty much however else you chose to finish it.

I've stripped and buffed a couple of ally frames, but always to a that'll do finish rather than a mirror shine. If you go down this route they don't really need lacquering, just the occasional buff with a bit of silvo or similar.

Personally I CBA with getting a mirror finish, but I do think they look awesome when other people go to the effort!

My builds always look a bit half arsed compared to the attention to detail typical on this forum...

Can't help on year/model I'm afraid but looking forward to seeing the build :)

Re:

I think it cane in at 1998 but stayed same for a year or so. I cant access the archives on home page here via mobile, but look it up as they go to 1998 so you should find out.

Bit more information here

This was just before saracen went halfords and cheap and terrible. These were always well built. Nice CNC yolks etc

That's gonna look great polished or in its original red  Get a resto thread up in the '98 Readers Bikes section - old DH bikes rock \m/

Re:

Thank you all, There was just things that look slightly different and I was told it was some sort of competition bike of some sort, not had much time of late with work, but the frame has 2 cracks in it (at rear suspension mount and trailing arm mount) so I'm gonna get them welded by the Ali welder at work. Alsoo a nasty dent that has ben fillered just forward of the bottom bracket.
I probably ain't got the balls to ride it properly so gonna build it just to get me to work and back as our factory has moved much closer to me. But I want it to look the part!! Thanks for all the info. I'll start a build thread later today. Hopefully when riding it it will rekindle my love for riding bikes. Think I just got lazy as an adult!

I may even draw up an CNC machine some parts my self for it, in my spare time as it's my trade and have access.
