Taking a Haircut on a Vintage Bike

I don't think there's going to be a massive bounce back - for sure rare stuff will always sell but your bread and butter bikes, the usual suspects Italian and French seem to be suffering the most. My pal has got a Colnago CT1 titanium on that normally would fly out at the price but it's just not shifting. For months now.

It's definitely a buyers market, but I can't help think that the algorithms have altered dramatically to favour those who are willing to pay for 'promotion'. Unfortunately that's not a one off fee, it's added in percentage points to the final value, which can be heavy if your item sells well.

From a buyers perspective, i would be happy to see prices adjust down, i just haven't seen that happen in a widespread way yet.

I'm (smugly;)) pleased that I'm in it because I like bikes. If I was buying bikes for money it would feel like a job
I buy bikes for money😃
It feels like a job🤔

A great job!😁

(Not easy though, and not well paid)

Must be said though, the buying is a lot easier than the selling🤣

I've seen that too.

There may be a slump in the market, but I don't know if I have actually seen that reflected recently in reduced prices.

There seems to be a lot of stuff just not selling, bikes that I am watching that just sit there for months. but not a real corresponding reduction in prices to what would move the stuff. Sort of like the sellers are hoping they can ride the general inflation trend, or just wait it out.
A lot of the online sellers are hobbyists, they don't need to sell anything.
There have always been acres of gold plated pantographed colnagos at 10k£+++.
The same ones usually, year after year🤔
