Super Vitus 980 tubing

Anyone have any experience of riding or building with this venerable tubeset? At 1507gr for the bare tubes it was supposed to be a direct competitor for Reynolds 753. I've seen a nice track bike in 980 but no real world clue about it

SB 980 was a fairly straightforward butted cro-mo tubeset.
1624g/set uncut. 8/5/8 top tube was light, 10/7/10 DT and seat were on the heavy end.
0.8mm seat and chainstays and 1.0mm fork blades.
...So more like Reynolds 531 or Columbus SL, than 753.

All the best,

Have used a 980 frame before, but small (52cm x 54cm; c-c) frame and small rider (145 lbs). I think 980 is thinner than Columbus SL, and I could flex my 57cm SL frame; my smaller SL frame is much stiffer. If I was 25 lbs or more heavier and/or stronger I would opt for a different frame; but that depends on multiple factors not addressed.
