I mean, these, for example, deffo crossover into the BMX market. The seller has all BMX kit pretty much.

But yeah, I really hope it doesn't end up like that. But it sure looks like it will...

The gravel bike thing; the burrito slayer thing; the whole Covid thing; the generational thing (those in their teens THEN are middle-aged and bored, with money kicking around NOW).

That's all contributing to the price madness I think.

Which is great for those sitting on stashes of stuff who will be buying (second) houses soon!

For those of us who rent, with barely anything stashed away, who are newer to this and on the hunt, it basically sucks.

Saying that, there are still bargains to be had...

I found a pair of WTB Powerbeam rims, WTB front hub and XT rear, for $50 on Ebay this weekend. I don't need them, but impossible not to grab for a backup at that price!

Pair of xc pro levers came up today and went just like that.....supposed nos, but had a lot of marks......you will be glad to hear they sold for just over double what i paid for a better pair last year!

Yeah, that kind/era come up quite a lot. It's the later, champagne or silver coloured versions that everyone seems to be hunting for all at the same time!

I'm after a pair of black xc pro levers and canti's to go on my explosif pro 1992.. but I'm not paying more than £40 for the lot.
Have some black deore v brakes on.. with black deore v brake levers ,work better than cantis..
Restomod it is then.

Might also have something to do with the fact the seller is willing to post worldwide, and thats a slew of problems waiting to happen.
Look at Onza(rock and roll bikes) for example,they stopped posting to the US due to a vast amount of their packages going 'missing'

Yes. It was a champagne pair that sold. The black ones do come up more often and are luckly cheaper.

I will just have carry on with the old skool ritchey ones for the moment as £75 is frankly silly money imho.

Its interesting how suddenly early retro interest is kicking in and crazy prizes. It might end up like the BMX market which is insane.

I tried to apply the old adage 'find me some cheaper ones' and I can't, at least not without import charges and high shipping costs. I guess there are two buyers who want them badly enough, every sellers dream.
