Sunday mooching around and cleaning up old Campagnolo kit!

Just thought seeing as I am getting back into the scene that I would start to fettle up some of my old kit.

Today's project will mainly consist of stripping down my old Mavic GP4 24 spoke track / time trial wheels and their Campagnolo Super Record hubs circa 1983.

Gave the wheel an overall clean.

The Wolber Neo Pro tubs still inflate. I guess I must have last used these as winter training wheels with it being shod in those.

The hub wasn't rotating too smoothly so I have stripped it down only to find the original Campagnolo grease looks immaculate after 28 years and it's not thick either.

Think I'm going to clean the cones and the bearing races and use new grease on them leaving the old Campagnolo grease on the spindle as a nod to the past!

That Campag grease was bullet/weather proof. I've still got a little white tub with some in.

I save it for special occasions when some long lasting lubrication is required.......................

I've not been shot at and they had probably not seen much weather in the last 28 years.

I take it they don't make it anymore.

Someone said to me yesterday that it looks like lithium grease with water in!
