So in summary; I've a 1955 catalogue showing the Manxman with the pump braze ons on the down tube, so it looks mid-late fifties ( 1956 / 7 = X prefix to the serial number ). Looks an excellent basis for a class restore, so a benelux deraileur, GB sports brakes and you are away. If you are restoring completely, Nick up at Lloyds has a lot of Sun decals, so check them out. Enjoy, Birmingham Sun's from the fifties are excellent bikes.

The bike has the early weinmann centre pulls on it now that I quite like tbh (the engraved ones not the sticker ones), so i'll keep those I think.

The mechs are a shambles though, not sure what to do with them. campag rear mech, 70's simplex mix. I'm thinking a campag valentino front mech and levers?

Today I've cleaned the brakes, mechs and all the rust and gunk off the wheels. I think the rear wheel may be a flip flop hub.

stripped the paint and have undercoated it in black primer.

can someone move this thread to readers bikes?
