Dirt Disciple
The dreaded day has come. The wife wants a bike.

Over the last few weeks the kids and her have been joining me on a few scenic rides. After struggling to ride her 100% pure steel monster I persuaded her to ride mine.

I now have a problem. I can't choose a frame. I only know what I like. Any suggestions!! What do your better halves ride. Any ladies out there with a favorite.

She is 5'7 the rides will mainly be tracks (I have a double trailer to drag around) Could do with a light but cheap build after all she might chuck it in a month or two.

Thanks for reading

Kona Lava Dome, you can pick the frames up cheaply, as with RS forks too..... SLX groupset, decent wheels and she's away?

I'd second that - Kona with a short, high rise stem will fit nicely. The Mrs has a Fire Mountain like that.

something with an ironboard attached? (cue torrent of abuse) :D

I wonder how many people have justified their new purchase as " it'll be for the wife, honest"? The rocklobster started off this way. my latest being the 15" Offroad I'm building with LX on it...

Are you after modern or retro, if retro I've got the wife's 91 Scott Windriver hung on the workshop wall complete with female gel (velo) saddle she could have for some beer/bit's for the E3 build tokens.
Matthew

the people have spoken. Kona it is then. although i am interested in the scott Mathew. Could you send a pick and a price please. another question is whats a fair price to pay for a kona never had one and don't know anyone whos owned one.

I built my wife an Orange Clockwork. She's quite short so got a very small frame, well I say frame, I bought a very nice complete bike, kitted out with XT M737, then added some personal touches like purple ano (which bizarrely my wife doesn't like). No matter, she wasn't building it so she got what she was given. Maybe that's why she doesn't ride it

I picked up a 2001 Rock Lobster for £75 on ebay for my other half.
I swapped a few bits over and she's well happy with it!
So am I as it happens. I've ridden it loads more than she has :D
