More info on this frame and the "not for resale"? Were these given to select shops or was this in the collection of a team sponsored rider at one point?

I don't know exactly, but is not a decal applied later, it is under paint, so for sure special edition directly from specialized factory

Is this a 1997? Stripes/rings above and below the S-Works decals on the seat tube don't appear until 1998 on the S-Works M2. Plus the top tube where yours clearly says "Team" has "M2" on the 1998 version. Pre-1998 release team rider only in 1997? What does the serial number show (non-drive side rear dropout)?

I had this exact frame but in 15.5 inch it came with the carbon fsx judy fork i bought it new in the states from a shop in Santa Monica called Supergo best bike shop i have ever visited about 96 i think came with the same Team stickers the same all over absolutely fabulous frame loved it to bits but sold to a girl and she still has it in her shed but looking very tired
