Stuck Seat Tube

That's a bummer! what stuff do you have to put on seatpost before putting in the frame? I had my Cannondale for 9 years and never put anything, so far it's no problem, I took it off last week and it's fine but thinking to put some stuff on seatpost to be on the safe side, It's normal grease stuff?

aluminium post in aluminium frame shouldnt give you any problems, its when you mix steel and alloy the fun starts,bi mettalic corrosion bonds them together..

Steel frame? Alloy post? Can you not go chemical on it's arse? I'm sure I remember this being mentioned in a mag once. Alloy would be more reactive than steel? Anyone?

Both my Cannondale and seatpost is aluminium but my first project is a steel Kona frame with aluminium seatpost, I better put some grease on that seatpost soon.

copaslip is the best thing for steel or alloy posts in a steel frame, messy stuff though, wipe the excess off or it'll get on every bit of clothing you have!

Thats real bad fella :( could try the hacksaw method but I think it needs reaming out really by the looks of it, the clamp area looks pretty fu*k'd too.... might be an idea to get a quote from a frame builder, dont think a bike shop will tackle that..and unless its an expensive frame (specialized ? ) it may be worth cutting your losses fella.. but like I say get a quote.... good luck and keep us posted.. :) ;)

Looks about the same frame as the one i have stuck, Specialized Cro-Mo 2001/2 but maybe wrong. Well worth saving, Ritchey tubing not the lightest but still a great ride. You need to cut straight down at least once either side but pay someone to do it as others have said. I've been at it all day but the blade is just bouncing around all over the place.

Good luck

The frame is a cro-mo Specialzed, that only cost me £35 second hand.
Thought it was a bargain but turns out to have a few quirks. Working on a shoestring aswell so paying someone isnt really possible. Ive got some hacksaws designed for this sorta thing, so I can give it a go.

Looks like in the long run ill have to strip off all the other stuff and then see if anyone has anyuse for the frame itself and invest in another second hand hardtail frame.

I looked on ebay tonight for a cheapish steel frame £50-£150 and there's nowt. Either cheap 'Bankrupt' stuff or frames going for really good money. I've taken all the stuff off mine and put it on a frame i was going to build a singlespeed with just to get to work tomorrow. You've still got a good frame for the money so get the thing out and you'll get plenty of advice off here afterwards.

Local bike repairers quoted me with £80 to fix it. I declined that due to the fact that I can get a brand new 07 frame for only £50...
