The BB has play in it - hence the reason I wanted it out, plus of course the plastic cup is destroyed

It’s been a while since I’ve had to deal with a stuck thread, and frankly, I haven’t got much equippage apart from some GT85 and spanner’s. So I was oddly proud to have unstuck a badass BB using what could be found.
Ratchet drive extended with an old handle bar? Not this time.
In the vice and use the frame as a lever? Wood top holding the vice splintered.
So…
Clamp in the BB tool with an M8 bolt.
Apply the big adjustable ….
No joy.
Get a garden fork and use the ultimate weapon: leverage:
Easy.
Prep your threads people.

Well done on freeing it, I don’t like being a smarty pants but that spanner is the wrong way around, if you were pushing down on it and could have slipped off. I’m off now to hide behind my sofa

Well I’ve got another one 
Just a routine strip down with intent to clean the bike up and rebuild it.
This time it’s, I believe, an XTR level UN90 BB or similar in an alloy frame.
Neither cup moved at first attempt, so I bolted the tool in the vice for a proper go.
The non drive side cup (metal) split
so now the tool won’t work at all.
Took to the drive side, and after a little bit of strain it started to turn
, and it wound all the way out.
But sods law, only the cup came out, so the outer casing of the bb remains firmly bound in against the inside of the non drive side cup.

The bb should tap out from the nds now - you've just got a Friction fit into the alloy Cup.
You could soak it in light oil first, but I doubt you'd need to.
Some bbs the drive side thread is part of the body, but they are all steel, so not what you've got here.

Yep, latest one has come out with a few whacks, now just left with the nds cup to try and extract.

This is where it helps to have a good selection of different sized nuts, bolts and washers. If you can bolt your extractor to the cup it will increase friction between the two and ensure it does not slip, then your efforts are focused fully on the twist than keeping the tool in the bb cup.
