Stripping anodizing?

I guess thin bleach as i left some stuff in thick bleach overnight - nothing. Although nice and clean now!

Any one know which or a better make shift solution?

Either oven cleaner (ask the mrs ) or caustic soda but be quick and carefull with that stuff.

Nope dont have either!

I think i used thin before which worked but left the finish mottled and matt.

If properly anodized it should eat into the top layer of material so the only way to fully remove would be to rub down with sand paper/scotchbrite.

Hmm i thought it was just the oxide layer??

I have done it with a set of straitline levers (i reckon they anodize properly) and it took it off. Needed scotchbrite to take away the matt finish though.

i used drain cleaner.

if you end up with blackened alloy then you left it on too long

The anodic film is an oxide that eats into the substrate as well as grows. How bigs the part?

Caustic soda / oven cleaner

5 mins in it, rinse off with warm water
Finish with a brillo

Its bad stuff so wear marigolds & do outside

Yep, search doesnt tell me whether its thick or thin bleach.

Its a crank set, chain device and lever blades.

Dont have any caustic, will probably just leave it for now since i dont have any thin bleach if it was that.

Its caustic soda
Along with a bit of elbow grease
Dont leave your item in the stuff too long as its eating away at the alu
