strange fork, anyone seen this before?

Just a second thought.....it may be from a trick bike.

Forward facing drop-outs to take the front wheel out while doing a wheely :!: :?: :idea: :shock: :facepalm:

As pointed out earlier, this bike ran into something pretty solid, like a car. I have seen this many times. A front wheel is very strong if the hit is straight on, the fork blades will bend evenly just like this one. The top oval part of the fork blade is stronger so the fork bends where the round part begins. Thanks for that info Dave. I have riden a Stayer way back when, a Carlton, as we had one hanging around. I was surprised as to how it rode, feeling like a normal bike. I had expected it to try and spin the handlebars round by some sort if castor action and be unridable .....

According to the OP, the star mark from the washer indicates otherwise (if I understand correctly, and
assuming the serrated washer was properly placed at the front between the caliper and
fork crown, rather than the rear facing nut / allen key and fork crown).

It would be good if the OP commented, and personally I would like to hear how these forks ride and
track when mounted according to the picture just for the sheer hell of it!

Stayer forks were generally made for a smaller front wheel than 700C.

I've been tracing the previous owner, tomorrow I should be able to update.

I might have found the clue to whether the forks are bend or not.
the crown has it's manufacturer's name on one side, would his be the back or front?

I'm not convinced at all. The snazzy 'Walrus' above was built by someone on Lufguss, and a (sort of) one-off.
