Does anyone have any ideas for storage for built up MTB's?
I know you can hang them up etc but is there a better way?...
I want you use up as little space as possible.

You and me both, currently have bikes under the stairs (cupboard, in boxes), shed (built, partially built) and worse yet, just outside (though under cover). I need a solution too - I have no extra space, so just need to utilise what I have better.

The most compact way I have found is to mount a bracket on the wall with a front QR vertically through it, drop the front wheel out and clamp the forks in the bracket.
This way the bars are turned, and the bikes can be as close together as the pedals allow. I can get at any bike without moving others about, I just have to stick the front wheel in.

I bought an 8'x10' Yardmaster metal shed - cost £200.

Erected in 2 days - easy, but fiddly work (lots & lots of little self tapping screws!)

I have fixed a wooden bar to the side wall on each side with hooks in (plastic coated metal storage ones from any hardware store) On one wall I have 6 bikes stored upright - front wheel hooked and rear wheel on the ground. On the other side is room for a filing cabinet for spares, tyres and wheels on the other wall, and another bike. So 7 bikes + wheels + tyres + filing cabinet + tool kits.......all in a shed.

I'll post some pics up to give you a better idea but as I have no inside storage it solves all my problems.

Next plan is a covered workshop area next to the shed - but that can wait until Easter!

Well I was just putting away the SS after my uber-snowy ride today......


Proper snowy - good foot at least!

......so I took some photos of the shed:

Shed from the outside - 8'x10' - looks surprisingly small!


The bike hooked up by front wheels.


The spares cabinet + tyre/wheel storage.


And with the other bike wedged in


Stuff is a bit wedged in, but it's surprisingly big inside, and I only need to take out the first 2 bikes and I can access all the others.

I've got 10 bikes hung up along a 10ft run of wall. Usual B&Q plastic-coated hooks in the roof, bikes hung by back wheels, front wheels out, bars turned and held to top tube with Velcro straps. Hooks rotated so the bikes all hang at a bit of an angle (towards the door) which makes them a little easier to get in and out and also means they don't stick out quite so far.

I like the Minoura bike stands.

Find them very sturdy etc. (not necessarily cheap though)
