My Brother is a general builder who works in and around Bristol and unfortunately some Thieving Scum B*stards broke into his lock up in the last 24 hours and stole all of his tools. There was tens of thousands of pounds worth, but more importantly, it is his entire livelihood.

Obviously he is totally gutted and I have never known him so down in all my life.

I just want to ask all fellow Retro Bikers, particularly those in Bristol who either attend car boots, or are in trades to let me/the police know if you are offered any cheap second hand tools. They are all good quality, Makita etc and would certainly look odd if offered as a job lot by one seller on Ebay or at a market/car boot. They also took 3 tool boxes that contained everything you would need to do plumbing, electrical and general work. Again all good quality stuff.

Suffice to say anyone who is self employed and either a mechanic or tradesman will know that stealing tools is the lowest of the low, because you are also stealing the persons livelihood.

It's a long shot, but worth a go! (PS feel free to give them a good kicking as well!)

sorry to hear that and hope he gets sorted soon,

I had my van turned over about 3 months ago, and that was only a couple of grands worth...

it wasn't the loss of the gear.. but the loss of earning and hassle to sort it that really p***ed me off!! hope he is back on his feet quickly!

That made me pretty angry just reading it, lowest of the low scum. I don't think i can help much from up here in Chester, but i'll keep my eye out nevertheless, you never know!

Was he fully insured?

my friends dad is a plumber/electrician, he had half of his tools in his van nicked, he left the van open the next night with a concrete block ontop of an open door, in the morning there was a small amount of blood on the floor and nothing had been taken!

Sorry to hear of the bad luck of the parties in the original posting.

Yes, I've thought of leaving mousetraps around valuables I'd fear someone might try to take (and that was in some movie).

The storage lockers near here have been broke into twice, they snapped into mine once but I did not have safes of goods or chandeliers or anything. One day, I went to the storage too and snapped locks up the corridor but not near mine.

Hopefully, some or all of the tools will be found. It seems there are a lot of these kinds of stories out of England but at least you don't have lunatics with pistols running around.
