a good written description and photos as well as any serial numbers is a start

Actually this site is a great help in this respect because we are all taking
lots of pix of our bikes and comparing serial numberse etc.

Imagine a Retrobiker at the policestation,
PC Plod "Do you have any photos of the missing bike sir ?"
Retrobiker "Er one or two, now this album was when it was built
as a fixie......"

put your name and postcode .. on a piece of paper, and stuff it way down the seat tube

Not sure what the weight weenies would say about that, how many
grams is a bit or paper and a plastic bag. Now if you use Airmail
paper it's much lighter, though it costs a bit more.

Never had a bike nicked luckily. I am however very weak and puny so if I ever had one nicked and saw someone riding it would probably just walk away and cry.
