Stolen bike.....then i see someone riding it....

I had a MK1 golf campaign that I was doing up, one day I found my window broken and lid off my glovebox missing so I put the word out that I was looking for a someone in the area with a MK1 golf, some days passed and I get a phone call from a friend informing me that there's one 2 streets from me so I went round to have a look and there it was same nick in the same place next to the lock and everything.

So I found out what house it belonged to and gave him a choice I was either going to kick seven shades out of him and take him down the cop shop or he had to let me take the parts I wanted of his car, I took the wings the boot lid the locking mechanisms the lights the grill the door cards etc etc. . . . . I do believe in karma but I think sometimes you need to give karma a hand.

My bike, the stereo from my car and a load of power tools got stolen back in in the mid 90's. Police came round...and that was about as much as they did.
I didn't get the bike back but later found out who stole it. A friend of mine called round his house and coaxed him into a waiting car. He went for a long drive onto the moors, lost his clothes and then someone accidentally spilled a gallon of petrol over him. Very careless i know, but accidents do happen.

You should always be carefull when discarding cigarettes when on the moors, the moors can be tinderbox dry, and fires can easily start.

If you are reading this Mr Bennett, I do hope you were traumatized by your experience that night.

My Marin Palisades Trail got nicked from outside the pub, i hadn't locked so was a bit miffed but my own fault
Fast forward about 18 months and i see my mate Morris from works son riding my bike
We were on pretty good speaking turns as i used to go and watch the band he played in :D
I stopped him, told him the score, he apologised, gave me back my bike and told me he had borrowed it from his mate to ride home because he had run out of fuel in his car.
I asked him where his mate lived but he wouldn't tell me, which was probably for the best :D
I spoke to his dad about it and he was mortified(nice family, genuinely don't think he knew)and gave his son a bollocking. Everyones happy :D

I have recovered 3 of my bikes after having been stolen

Grabbed the runts on the bikes and called the police while i held onto the bike, its funny how quick they just leave you with the bike when your on the blower to the feds

I once saw some scumbag on one of my stolen bikes while i was in a removal van with 3 of my burly mates,
Picked the chav up and dropped him and the bike off at the cop shop

i've had 1 bike stolen from me , i got it back and 2 sore hands too , thats all i can say about it

Never had a bike nicked luckily. I am however very weak and puny so if I ever had one nicked and saw someone riding it would probably just walk away and cry.

Last year I saw my bike on Gumtree, 3 or 4 years after it was stolen. Got the police involved, they did a bit of sniffing around, checked my story against the original report and I got it back. Before that I regularly used to think about what I'd do if I saw someone riding it.

I'll never give up on the others I've had nicked.

Had my GT Outpost Trail nicked when new from outside a shop
(stupid me only time I ever left it unlocked).

Dodgy area and a couple of kids hanging around outside. One
said he saw some local toe-rag on a 'big bike' (20" frame !). i said if
they could get it back I'd make it worth their while. 30 mins later they had
'stolen it' off the toe-rage who stole it from me. Gave em a tenner.

Even if it was a scam it was lesson learned and I got my 'baby' back.

I have ALL my serial numbers of ALL my bikes written down inside my toolbox. You should too.

Hm... Three bikes and a frame were nicked from my brick shed last year - and the b******s took my bloody toolbox too...

crikey! Retrobikers don't pull any punches when it comes to their pride & joy do they!

Both times I had my bike nicked I had left it unlocked "just for a minute", so my own fault really

can you be arrested for "stealing" back what was yours in the first place?
