Stem adapter needed DESPERATELY

Does anybody know where I can get a quill stem adapter for my cannondale? I have a controltech stem on the bike but the reach is too long and I can't find a stem short enough... So, thought I could maybe get a stem adapter and get a shorter stem that way.

I can't find any in the UK though... I can't ride my bike till I get this fixed!

my cannondale takes an unusual sized 1 1/4" stem... so I'm assuming it'll need a 1 1/4 to 1 1/8 adapter? (sorry, i'm learning as I go along!)

Mine are for 11/8th including extenders etc.
