Specialized Rockhopper saga

Nice work! Are you making the tabs yourself or are you buying and chopping them up? I think it's the later. Also are you MIG welding these on?

Love the Frankenhopper name! 😎

Nice seatpost puller too. Always keep meaning to make one of these!

Thankyou very much. Yeah I make the tabs myself, I’ve rescued a lifetimes supply of 5 and 6 mm plate steel from the skip at work. I clamp a caliper to the disc and then cut up some cardboard until I’m happy or run out of patience then use that as a template for the steel.
I have mig welded them on before and managed to keep the welds neat but a friend of mine Tig welds them on now for me. I asked him how much he would charge to weld the tabs on and he reckons £30 so it’s not too pricey.
£15 for paint so less than £50 for a disc mod, well minus all the bolt on parts lol

That seatpost puller was an absolute beast lol I’ve only got a small shed so unfortunately it’s back in the skip at work where its bits are from. I don’t know where you are from but if it’s still in the skip and you want it you can have it but collection from Stockton I’m afraid.

Good stuff. I love making stuff. Couldn't quite tell if it was neatly MIG'd or not due to the filing/grinding. Nice work.

Shame you can't keep the puller due to space. I'm miles away in South Wales, but @The History Man might be interested as I'm sure he's closer. One day I'll get around to making one. It's on the never ending list in my head! 🤪;)

Can you retrieve it? I work in Fairfield Stockton and have a stuck post!!!!!!!!!

This is my first attempt at a paint repair, although the shade is wrong and there’s an obvious line where I tried to conserve the decals I’m happy enough with that. Can’t be too precious, it is a do it all Frankenhopper after all.
I fancy going to the York cycle festival next weekend and I’d like to take this but no time left to get it together how it will stay so a temporary single speed build perhaps 🤔 IMG_5386.jpeg IMG_5388.jpeg IMG_5389.jpeg IMG_5390.jpeg
