Specialized M2 Info Thread/Serial Registry

Ah yeah, that would have been the one i forgot about. Nice catch!
Hmmm so would the geometry of the 96 FS be the same as the rigid version and "all" I need to do is find a set of original rigid fords for a 96 Stumpjumper?

Yep, that should do it. I think the Rockhopper and Hardrock forks from that time and a couple years later will also work, just make sure to get the threadless ones. Do be aware that it looks like the bike sits lower with the OG fork on the front. If you want color match you will most likely have to repaint. I do remember seeing somewhere (‘95 catalog maybe?) that the frames were suspension corrected and Specialized actually suggested you upgrade to suspension later on. Wish big corporations were still this way…

Hello everyone. Quite glad I found this thread as I am seeking help.
I recently built up a Specialized frame that a friend gave me as a gift. Obviously none of the parts are original but more of a decision of personal preferences. The frame also had a new clear coat because the old one was peeling off. After all my research, I'm not sure which model it is, because all frames from that year are a different color or the decals are different (e.g. red "S" on the 1993 sworks model). The frame number is "91T03148" (hard to read because of the old clear coat). The frame has a 1" head tube and the cable stop on the downtube is attached further down, like on the first m2 models but seems to have the shape of the 1992 purple model.
So what model is it and has it been repainted maybe?
Any help is much appreciated!! Cheers from Berlin!

I’m going to go with repainted 1991 S-Works. Decals are unusually era correct though, so makes me second guess myself — the top and downtube decals being a bit disproportionate/wrong are the clue.
