Probably the number of the colour they've used. "Blauw" is Dutch for blue.

My Gazelle is yellow and the also have "Blauw" the "w" was cut away when they cut the threads. Maybe it was the last name of that day's manager or something???? I am sure it was the same person that wrote on these two forks. The handwriting is the same. Just look at the way he writes the "8".

My AA.653 has 'zwart' (black) written on the steerer, while the frame is as red as a tomato. On another frame, an AA Special, it says wit (white). The frame is actually silver with a blue panel. Probably you are right and mr. blauw, zwart and wit were all collegues ....or Gazelle employed a colourblind painter. What is more likely?
