so i started a bike shop. update 28/11/24

Good luck man, don't think we've ever spoken on here (or IRL) but I remember when you started this thread and adventure and I thought it was a very cool thing to do then and I still do now.

I'm very lucky to have 2 great LBS in my town and I try to support them as much as possible even if it means paying more than going to a huge store with their buying power and selection.

hey Gents, thought i'd give you an update as it's been a while. first, thanks for the comments regarding the cance stuff, basically all is ok now . . . phew!

so the surgery was 24th of september, i was told to have 4 to 6 weeks off, i had 3 weeks, i heeded what a few people said as my arrogant intention based on what the doctor said was to be back in after a week, after talking to a few people i decided to make that 2 weeks, towards then end of that 2 weeks i phoned a couple of friends at other shops and they all said it was dead out there so i had another week off!

when i went back in i had my friend Olly helping doing the repairs, that was awesome having him to help, it wasn't crazy busy so even with Olly only part time we kept on top of the repairs really well.

thought i would throw a few pictures on here, i find the shop is in constant change, it might not look it, but there's always something to tidy, move, a new bit of stock that means i need to move other things to fit them in etc.

i'm still trying to decide whether i want to sell bikes long term, the Genesis bikes came in almost a month later than they should have, so end of summer, then i went in to hospital and had the 3 weeks off, this basically means i'm sitting on that stock until spring, not ideal. i think maybe another year or 2 of selling then that might be it and just stick with repairs etc. we'll see.

anyway here's what the shop currently looks like

oh and if you're wondering about the big bike, i took it for a MOT and service, the idiots caused loads of issues, the main one being a massive fuel leak! it eventually had to go elsewhere to be sorted out at their cost, i got it back but the fuel leak had damaged the stickers on the fairing so i rode it in a couple of days ago and started stripping the fairings ready for new stickers etc, also i removed the clocks as they need sorting out as the speedo doesn't read properly, that's off to holland for that. it's been cool having it there though, it's odd as people ask about it, and if i can work on theirs, obvs that's a no!
