Hi, Ive never had a problem previously fitting grips, I normally wet the bars with some water, slip the grips on and the next day they are solid.

Just changed the grips on my new Gt and my gf's Saracen and they are slipping about all over, tried water and hairspray to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Don't use superglue in a mad fit before you go on a ride because they are slipping, it damages the inside of the grip, and dries far too quickly so you only get them halfway on before having to figure out what to do

So try a slow setting adhesive, 'puncture repair adhesive (vulcan)' used to work.
Or if you have IPA (isopropanol) or screen cleaner, try spraying with that, i'll clear the inside of the grip and the bar and dry fast and should leave the grip a touch tacky as it's clean.
May not work though.

What grips you using ?

Give them a clean down and ensure both the inner of the grips plus the bar are 100% dry.

Then, try the hairspray technique again.

Failing that, resort to Lock On grips ;)

as rediculous as it sounds my mate uses wd40. i refused to believe it works till he used it to fit my ritchey foam grips. it worked for them

Sounds a bit yuck..... but I tend to make sure that the bar and grip are both clean then I use a bit of spit in the grip and then twist them on. I find that once they are in place I twist them back and forth a few times and they start to stick quite well and then leave it over night and they're good the next day.
I've done this for ages... and i had to cut the last pair of grips off last weekend! Could get the buggers off!

Try giving the bar a gentle rub(don't go mad) with a scothbrite pad, also use hairspray and then heat the inside with a hair drier.

always sprapped a mist of gt/wd down the grips and cleaned the bar, never had any problems.all grips bar lock ons will slip off in a downpour tho

Cheers boys, will try all the above techniques as soon as I have time and let you know the outcome ;)

A friend of mine used to use heavily sugared warm water. Let it dry and the sugar sticks the grips on. When you come to take them off just immerse them in hot water again.
