Skinwall tyres

Re:

I'm also looking for a pair of 26" skinwall for a retro rebuild.
Anyone know where can I get a pair of Panaracers (smoke/dart)?
Or which Maxxis/Schwalbe models to look for as I can't find any up to 2.20 from them.
Terraone looks good and I'll look for them as an alternative

The only skinwalls with decent tread in 26" are Schwalbe Nobby Nics. Theres other less aggressive tread tyres like the Billy Bonkers and a few similar 'Dirt jumper' tyres. I've seen some skinwall city/commuter type tyres on ebay too. But if you want to do any serious off roading the Nobby Nics are all there is.

Annoyingly a lot of the big tire companies make skinwalls in larger wheel sizes only.

Re:

Thanks! That's all I could find along with the Panaracer. It is indeed annoying there are no other options on 26" and even those seem to be large. The minimum on Nobby Nic is 2.35".

Yeh I worry it’s a real issue with older frames too, forks less so. But I fear that 2.35 on a 90’s frame will clog in UK mud seconds!

Terraones are developing a narrower v2 I think - but not tubeless, which for me is a real miss, as it would mean you can run lower pressures, on a narrower tyre without fear or pinches, plus great puncture protection. Gotta to be a winner on older hard tails...

Anyway, there are some other options to the schwalbes already mentioned, but they’re niche and EXPENSIVE, check out simworks, Rene herse, ultradynamico, fairweather or even gravel kings do a 26” with brown sidewall I think... If you find anymore, please let me know!

I honestly hope the resurgence of 26” will bring more tyre options with added modern improvements back into play.

Will check all those brands, my preference was on the Panaracers for now but they are not easy to find either, and the Noby Nic is a good front option but not sure about clearance on the chainstays

Nobby Nic 2.25 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schwalbe-Nob ... %3A2334524 (These are the older version)

The 2.35 is a recently released new version with more aggressive side knobs https://www.merlincycles.com/schwalbe-a ... 279a1b55ad

The Simworks Super Yummy look nice for dry conditions and fireroad stuff. https://sim.works/collections/simworks- ... 7130024102

I've been considering running a Super Yummy on the back and a Nobby up front.

Or a old style Nobby 2.25 out back and the newer style 2.35 up front.
