Do 2.1 tyres fit ok in the '87 Courier?

If you are concerned about clearance between tyre and frame, there is no problem - of course it will narrow the gap slightly but they don't touch each other.
Inner Rim width of courier wheel is about 1 inch.
According to Sheldon Brown, it can take up to 57mm (2.24inch) width (or more)

The bike is just gonna be for school run etc, and at £12.50 a piece posted they are as good a bet as any.
