single speeder?

I think that the Surly tensioners and sprockets take some beating - although not the cheapest they look tidy and work well.

Here's one in the "push up" configuration......

Worth going for a deep tooth chainring too

Olá,

Single is single.
When you use a tensioner, it is not a single.
Single is a kind of a perfect adaptation of mechanics and biker.
My tought.

:?: :?: :?: Whether I'm using a tensioner or not I still only have one gear, mate - that makes it singlespeed as far as I'm concerned.

Looks tidier without a tensioner, but then maybe there's sometimes more to life than tidiness.....like giving a good old frame a new lease of life, for example?

BTW - if I run 32:19 I can dispense with the tensioner too.

out of interest what is a good gear range to end up with?
im seeing a few 16-34 combo,s
bike will be 100% road once i build my other one too

I understand your point of view. Off course "single speed" is one gear, but for me single speeds is a return of the first bikes, without a tensio.
But the secret is... have fun!!!

Um grande abraço.
