I’ve already got 5 incomplete builds on the go so figured what the heck, what’s one more?!
I’m hoping I haven’t made the same mistake as last time where I ended up with too many builds on the go and disappeared from the scene for 12 years!
But this beauty came up a few months ago and thank you to @Tomianson for letting it go.
I should have passed on it but I always loved this colourway and I can have a bit of fun with this one rather than the stealth mode I’m mostly doing on the Fat Ti.
It does also explain why I’ve suddenly started looking for turq parts again though
1993 M/L Aquafade Yo Eddy. Original paint. The frame was/is effectively NOS, it’s been built up a couple of times but not ridden. It’s pretty much as clean as you can get although it has picked up the odd knock over the last 31 years.
The Yo Eddy forks are original paint but not NOS. I need some original fork top decals if anyone has any? The steerer was professionally lengthened but oddly lengthened near the top which limits the amount of quill you can insert into the steerer. Works ok with the Salsa stem but I’d like more stem options so will get it off to @danson67 to get the steerer redone.
Original plan was to stay classy and spec black parts, let the paint job do all the talking. Then thought about silver parts but @Tomianson has already done a stellar build on it with a Campy group.
Plus I went (mostly) classy with the Funk and the Fat Ti so the new plan is to go down the turq route. I know it’s been done before, pretty hard to build a Fat nowadays that hasn’t been done before, but I think I can make a few nice tweaks to really make this one mine…
Sill quite a bit of turq to pull together so likely to be another slow burn build…
I did manage to source a NOS seat collar though - plus some replica toothpicks and a 29.4 Moby post in turq! It’s not as clean as all the other parts but they rarely come available so will run with it for now.
