Dirt Disciple
Had this project in mind since forever but a lot of (bad) things came in between. Now back on track and all good,i I finally could continue what was planned and started.
Bought the Sbike locally and despite what the pictures show it was not in very good condition. Drive train was worn, flat spots in hoops and paintwork had a lot of chips, decals peeled and torn. I knew this and had a full restore planned.
Stripped down and removed all old paint, ordered new decals at retro decals. Fitted some Rigida thermoplastic (some of you might remember this picture) what had great looks. So plan was made, repainted in silver.
Unfortunately something went wrong with the colour and in stead of silver grey it had a yellowing layer over it. Like lacquer but way too much.
Probably this had to be, because then I came across a thread on this forum where some Sbike brochures where shown. My eye caught the 805 model in red. Didn't like the components but that red! Started to search for more info but hard to find. I compared the red from both 805 and the well known 808 fully and these are the same. Sourced someone with this 808, took a colour sample and had custom paint mixed. Yes, so much better and with the original decals from the 708 ready to go. But... Cut up the 708 decal and created the 807, with the mix of parts in mind it will be unique anyway.
Found a vgc RS Mag 20 to replace the original rigid fork. After a cleaning it looks even better, only dust seals are dried out (full seal kit on the way). Fitted a Stronglight needle bearing headset and the original quill stem and bar.
Brakes will be a mix of blue Kooka levers combined with Magura HS22 yellow calipers and was happy to find a blue anodized booster to match the fork. All bolts will be blue titanium. So far it looks like I have in mind...
