Silly brakes question

But what do the tiny narrow bolts that appear to screw into the brake levers from above do? I've never touched mine but noticed they were unequal amounts out, hence the question.

I've just setup my V brakes to how I would like them, and now I find this! :D

They let you adjust the lever throw - the distance it sits from the bar before you pull it. If you're happy with your set up you can forget about them.

Little grub screws? [*grub screw-doesn't have a head, allan key fits into recess]
If so -They're setting the reach of the lever.Screwing it right in puts the lever closer to the bars. You usually have to screw them mostly in before the levers start to move.

Haha! Thanks for the clarification, and yes "bolts" was beefing it up a bit - they are little grub screws. I am 99% sure the levers are set out as far as they can, which is fine for me - have large hands. (And you know what they say about men with large hands.....

large gloves)
