I've only fairly recently come round to disc brakes, had Magura HS33's or XTR M951's on all my bikes but had some squeaky bum moments on steep descents and decided to try discs out on my 99 Kona Chute as it had the tabs and I've been converted. Hanna has only just made the change and I feel a lot more confident on her.

Just my personal opinion, I think you really do get what you pay for with disc brakes, I tried some Elixir 1's from Chain Reaction for £20 a brake and they were crap, pads were crap, modulation was crap, adjustment was crap, pain in the arse to bleed. There was no redeeming features. Then bought some XT M785's and those things will stop on a dime, awesome brakes with one finger braking. The Hope Mini 5's on Hanna aren't quite as sharp but are still a fantastic all round brake.

I'll take one when I'm back home, it looks a tad rough but it does the job. I'd never heard they were for alloy frames. If that's true then marketing them as universal is a bit misleading.

Re:

It does say in the details for alloy frames well it did when i bought mine from wiggle and a few other sites. Cause alloy frames usually have a flat big piece where the dropouts are. There is a pic of mine on page 1.

Aah I bought mine loose from a bike shop. Saying that I did have look online a while back and didn't see mention of it. I probably just didn't read properly. I know a local engineer who will braze on a proper mount to the frame for a tenner so I'll probably do that sooner or later anyway.

Re:

Sorry, had to edit..... That On One is easy;
10/10

Love the clean look, dig the color, W I D E bars and big fork....I bet that is fun to ride! How much does it weigh?

So is this for current bikes, or retro ones that still see trails from time to time....? I'll post my regular rider

RaceFace Atlas stem, bars, front chainring, seat/seatpost and grips
XT rear shifter
SLX rear deraileur
carbon Rockguardz frame protector

Jointhedotz we need a scorw out of 10 for kev-w's Marin? And info about the on-one.

Ha!

So I assume no one wants to rate the Marin and that is why Jointhedotz skipped on by??

2/10 (8/10) because you can still actually ride it ;)

swap the stem for one with less rise. Upgrade the brakes/shifters to XT which should be cheap....easy to source here or ebay. Same with the rear wheel/cassette...headset should be easy to find too....don't rebuild that one....
