Don't really care about the spacers.. I know how to use a hacksaw.
Also I like the bar ends like that, it's what I feel comfy with ;)

That's fair enough, you set it up how you like. Just explaining why I rated it as I did mate. As per the OP's rules/suggestions. Enjoy the ride, that's the main thing ;)

Too right Mike, sorry for being defensive about it :)
That's the whole point of the thread, the poster above may totally love all the parts about their bike and think it's the best bike in the world.
Sometimes some criticism might make them notice stuff that they haven't.

8/10 because it's new.

You edited your post.. you said 8/10 because purple bits and Rock Shox.
Also...how is it new?
:)
I got confused when I saw "Readers bikes 1998-->." I thought it was a pre 97' bike with a new fork. I'm more into Kleins than anything, so I guess I don't know about the Kona. :?

Don't want to type what I'm thinking.
I know it has it's purpose as a trials bike but it looks like a ten year olds bike.

Ok, see you now also posted the Giant.

No way a trials bike bud, way too heavy & not with that size ring on the front lol. Was my dirt jump & slalom/4cross bike back in 2000, was a mean bit of kit for that back then. 24" wheels with 2.5" & 3" tyres & short wheelbase made it great for kicking it with the BMX lads on sets of vertical doubles :)

...as well as carving up the 2x & 4x tracks

Oh & nice welcome to the forum btw - thanks ;-)

Getting some new wheels for the giant next week, hope pro2 evo hubs on sun ringle inferno 31 rims, 20mm axle front & 10mm bolt up rear, thinking of getting some Marzocchi 55s on the front for a bit more travel too as well as external bearing style BB & new cranks, but will be a little while coming with all that.

8/10 for the Giant AC1, stickers on the frame... tut tut. Seriously though it looks like a nice ride, not a massive fan of the shivers and I'd have a single speed chain ring.

Anyway, here's my mix and match of old and new, pretty much near completion finally.

1999 Kona Chute Frame

XT M785 brakes 180mm rotors

Scott bars / PX stem

XTR Rear mech / 9 speed

M571 cranks w/ Raceface 36t chainring and DMR chain guide.

Alexrims Sprecialized branded wheels on Shimano hubs.

Pace RC40 carbon forks - the weight

All I want is an M952/3 9 speed shifter and I''m good.
