But I have to say ever since I saw this ad in January 1990 edition of the “fast lane” I kinda want a bmw k1 now.

And I also very much like this, very cool video.

Has anyone seen a K1 for sale recently? Saw one on carandclassic that was a sort of “barn find” and you know how I like barn finds…
Didn't know you rode mate. I love beemers. The K1 is whacky but I would ride one :)

I don’t. But was thinking of getting one and I’m thinking of getting the a series engine out of the deep dark garage and plan to build the mini again.

Was actually planning to sell the engine and buy that k1 “barn find” because I loved the look. Would match my cannondale very well.

Am kinda worried as I would maybe get into motorcycles and then be too lazy to get back on a push bike. That’s why I don’t want an e bike.

Perhaps start with something a little less powerful and complex?

They were an evolution of the 'flying brick' K100, and never really caught on in the UK as they were expensive and relatively slow...Never a big seller anywhere, truth be told.

I thought it was a great looking bike. If ever there was a bike to epitomise 80's style then the K1 was probably it.

It was heavy for a sports bike which blunted its performance, so wouldn't be too much for most riders.

Rode one - not my cup of tea but interesting.

Just to clarify GIGFY's post - I was an instructor, then an examiner, but not anymore. I worked in the UK motorcycle industry between 1996 and 2022. I made a complete career change last year.
