Recently discovered an XTR M970 groupset (including wheels) in the shed and felt the immediate need to build it into something fun. Scoured eBay for a 90’s Kona and found a ‘94 Cinder Cone frame & forks for sale relatively local. Here is the resultant creation. Not sure if it’s finished yet but I’m unsure what else to do to it.

Wow, that's nice. I'm on the hunt for an M970 wheelset myself.. bought a front hub without questioning the seller enough and it showed up as a centerlock M975 front hub..

Here's my 95 HH running an XTR M970 brakeset and a modern 1x11 XT M8000.

Paint looks nice, looks a bit like the 93 Kilauea paint. 90's had the noodle though, unless you have had it removed with the rack mounts? And why the chromoly tubing badge? would have had a Prestige badge on.

Yeah, noodle and rack mounts removed and cable end stop on top tube added. Decals were from Gil. Left them to Argos.

That's a 95 fork too (if original) so had a longer AC length that those from 90/91

Shouldn't impact things too much.
