Got the old tried and true out for 14 miles of trail riding yesterday and took a few picks after the post ride wipe down. Original owner 91 Xizang with the internally routed rear brake cable. A real mix of both old and new but it rides great with this set up and I just love those Hollowtech II cranks what can I say? I've been thinking about taking it back to it's original build but that would take a bunch of work and a fair amount of pocket change. Maybe I'll just take it back to full XT top mount with an 8 speed rear.

Nah, can't be by 98 they were shipping the carbon fork and that one's got a chromoly fork. Perhaps a Course model?

my two beauts. identical frame size and age; 97 zaskar le's. have added decals via ebay..plus xt/lx cranks xtr rear mech, marzocchi pro etz air shock and given em both some peak district/manc land commuting abuse spoiled for choice
