You and me both!What models have the shorter top tubes? The problem I have is long legs and short torso. Most MTB drop bar conversions are too long in the top tube for me.

Marin Bear Valley (not SE) and downwards, pre-1995 are the ones to go for. The heavier tubing is no disadvantage: they are a bit stiffer and so less squirrelly when loaded up.
One of the big factors I have found on fit is to get a set of drops with a short forwards reach - it varies wildly, by at least 25-30mm. Modern shallow drop gravel bars are really suitable.
